HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Register for a volunteer shift
Sign a liability waiver when registering through Eventbrite

Volunteer shifts are intended to offer learning opportunities to individuals, families, and small groups of friends - not serve as private group outings. If you are interested in registering a group of six or more, please visit our Team Building page to learn more.

To keep all volunteers safe, children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Volunteers 13 - 17 years old may come on their own but will need a parent or guardian to sign a waiver.

Your own gardening gloves
Water bottle, hat, sunscreen, layers, snacks
We break for lunch at noon - feel free to bring a lunch to sit and eat with staff and other volunteers.

WEATHER POLICY

We will cancel volunteer hours if the weather forecast predicts a 70% chance of rain or more. If the forecast predicts less than a 70% chance of rain we will proceed with our garden day, but ask that volunteers come only if you feel comfortable doing so and if you have the appropriate clothing for inclement weather.

SFMTA COMMUNITY SERVICE

Garden for the Environment is an approved site for SFMTA’s Community Service Program. Please fill out the necessary application with SFMTA and then once approved, you can sign up for volunteer hours through our Eventbrite page. We suggest giving yourself enough time to complete all required hours as shifts often fill up quickly and we cannot be responsible for unexpected cancellations if they occur.
